Born in Quebec City, he completed his undergraduate studies at l’universite de Laval. He then completed an M.Sc and a Ph.D. in Applied Psychology at the University of Aston in Birmingham, England. He has taught applied social psychology and industrial/organisational psychology at l’universite de Moncton, a small (N=5000) French language university in eastern Canada, for over twenty years. He has also been a visiting professor and research psychologist at the University of Aston, chairperson of the Department of Psychology at the Universite de Moncton, a visiting professor at Mount Allison University, a research psychologist at the Canadian Forces Applied Research Unit (now PRT), and a research consultant with Human Factors International in Henly-in-Arden, England.
In addition to having a licence to practice psychology from the New Brunswick College of Psychologists, he is an active member of a number of professional and scientific organisations. For instance, he is a member of: the Canadian Psychological Association (founding member of the I/O section, original member of the Military and the Social & Personality (also past president) sections); a life-time member of the Ontario Psychological Association (and its SIOP section); a member of the British Psychological Society (Occupational and Social psychology sections); a registered human factors specialist and member of the Ergonomics Society; a member of the International Association of Applied Psychology (I/O section); a member of l’Association Internationale de Psychologie du Travail de Langue Francaise; a member of l’Association de Psychologie Scientifique de Langue Francaise; and member and area chair for the International Council of Psychologists.
Finally, he has been active as a consultant with organisations in Asia, Europe and the Americas. His areas of interest include the study of leadership and entrepreneurship, organisational analyses, motivation to work, and performance evaluation. For instance, he completed a programme evaluation for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police as part of a pan-Canadian team of seven industrial/organisational psychologists. He is also an associate member of Drake Beam Morin, an international organisation that specialises in developing and administering training and career transition programmes. As an associate of Human Factors International, specialists in business psychology, he does organisational analyses and personnel evaluations. He is currently supervising a number of post-graduate theses, including a study of the impact of person-organisation congruency on performance and job satisfaction, a study predicting the efficacy of partnerships between international organisations, and a study to develop a new model for predicting team efficiency.
